Cookie Policy
Rather than describing cookies in the abstract, this page lists the cookies this website can set, who provides them, what they do and how long they last. Optional technologies wait for the choice required in your region.
1. What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. It lets the site remember things between pages and between visits — that you dismissed a banner, for example.
This Policy also covers similar technologies that do comparable jobs: local storage and session storage, which hold data in your browser; pixels and web beacons, tiny invisible images that record that something loaded; and scripts loaded from third-party servers. We refer to all of them as "cookies" here for simplicity.
This Policy sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with personal data generally.
2. Our Consent Approach
A first-visit banner appears on every public page after a short delay, not only on the homepage. Accept all and Reject all have equal weight. Optional categories are not pre-ticked.
Where prior consent is required (including typical EU, EEA, UK and similar rules), optional technologies stay off until you accept them.
Where an opt-out model applies (including typical US state privacy laws), optional cookies may run until you reject them or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal.
If you take no action in an opt-in region, we treat that as no consent for optional technologies. Continuing to scroll or browse is not consent. A first-party record of your choice is stored so we can honour it. That record is strictly necessary. This page describes our technical approach; it is not a claim that the site meets every privacy law.
3. The Categories We Use
3.1 Strictly necessary Always on
Required for the website to function and to remember your privacy choices. These are exempt from the consent requirement under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, because without them the service you asked for cannot be provided. Ironically, one of them exists purely to remember that you said no to the others.
3.2 Preferences Optional
Reserved for optional extras if we add any later. None are currently loaded. If you decline, the site works normally. Phone, email and WhatsApp remain available.
3.3 Analytics Not used
We do not currently load an analytics property on this website, so analytics cookies are not set.
3.4 Advertising and targeting Not used
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies on this website. No retargeting pixels, no advertising networks, no behavioural profiling, and no data sold or shared with advertisers. If that ever changes we will update this Policy and ask for your consent before setting a single one.
4. Every Cookie We Set
This is the complete list. If you find a cookie on scriplit.com that is not here, please tell us — we want to know.
4.1 Strictly necessary
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| scriplit_consent | Scriplit (first party) | Stores your cookie preferences so we do not ask again and so we honour your choices on every page, including a rejection of optional cookies. | 6 months | HTTP cookie |
| SCRIPLITSESSID | Scriplit (first party) | Maintains your session state across page loads, including the contact-form CSRF token. Set by PHP and deleted when you close the browser. | Session | HTTP cookie |
| scriplit_vid | Scriplit (first party) | Anonymous visitor identifier used to associate a later contact-form inquiry with the same first-party visit. It is a random UUID. It is not your IP address and is not used to identify you in the real world. | 400 days | HTTP cookie |
| scriplit_sid | Scriplit (first party) | Anonymous session identifier for a visit. Refreshed while you continue browsing and replaced after about 30 minutes of inactivity. | 30 minutes of inactivity | HTTP cookie |
| scriplit_visit | Scriplit (first party) | Holds the first landing page, first referrer, and any UTM campaign parameters for the current browser tab so they can be included if you submit the contact form. Cleared when the tab closes. | Session | Session storage |
4.2 Preferences
We do not currently set preference cookies. If we add an optional feature later that needs them, it will be listed here and will follow the consent or opt-out model that applies to your visit.
4.3 Analytics
We do not load a third-party analytics property such as Google Analytics. First-party page-view records used to show which pages were visited before a contact-form inquiry are stored on our server and tied to scriplit_vid / scriplit_sid. Those cookies are listed as strictly necessary because the contact form still needs to work if you reject optional categories. If we add a separate analytics product later, we will list it here and ask for a new choice.
4.4 Loaded without cookies
We self-host our fonts, icons, core stylesheets, and scripts. Cloudflare Turnstile still loads from Cloudflare when you submit the contact form. That request does not set a first-party cookie from us, but Cloudflare receives your IP address as part of serving the challenge. We consider that strictly necessary so the form can block automated spam.
5. Third-Party Providers
Where a cookie is set by a third party, that company processes the data under its own privacy policy as well as our agreement with it:
- Cloudflare — Turnstile on the contact form, and (when the site is proxied) visitor location headers. Privacy policy
- IPinfo — Lite country and ASN lookup of the visitor IP when a contact form is submitted. This is a server-side request; no IPinfo cookie is set in your browser. Privacy policy
Several of these are US-based, so consenting to their cookies may involve a transfer of data outside the EEA or UK. Section 9 of our Privacy Policy explains the safeguards that apply.
6. Managing Your Choices
The simplest way is the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page. It reopens the preference panel, shows what you chose last time, and lets you change any category.
Changes take effect immediately. If you withdraw consent for a category, we stop loading those scripts at once and clear the associated cookies where technically possible. Some third-party cookies must be cleared through your browser, and section 7 explains how.
Your preference is stored for six months, after which we will ask again. That way a decision you made long ago does not silently persist forever.
7. Controlling Cookies in Your Browser
Your browser gives you independent control over all cookies, including the strictly necessary ones. Blocking those will break parts of this and most other websites.
Most browsers also offer a private browsing mode that discards cookies when you close the window.
8. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
We honour Global Privacy Control signals. If your browser or extension sends one, we treat it as a refusal of all non-essential cookies and do not display the banner asking again. You do not have to click anything.
We treat legacy Do Not Track headers the same way, even though no legally binding standard was ever settled for them.
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is no additional opt-out to exercise. See section 8 of our Privacy Policy.
9. The Legal Basis for This
The technical controls on this site are written with the following rules in mind. That is not a certification that the website is compliant with every privacy law:
- Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC, as amended, which requires prior informed consent before storing or accessing information on your device, except where strictly necessary to provide the service you requested.
- The GDPR (EU) 2016/679 and UK GDPR, which set the standard for valid consent: freely given, specific, informed, unambiguous, and as easy to withdraw as to give.
- The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 in the United Kingdom.
- The CCPA as amended by the CPRA and other US state privacy laws, including the requirement to honour opt-out preference signals.
Consent is not required for strictly necessary cookies, which is why they are always active. Everything else waits for you.
10. Changes to This Policy
We update this Policy whenever we add, remove or change a cookie. The "Last updated" date reflects the current version.
If we introduce a new category of cookie, particularly anything advertising-related, we will re-request consent rather than rely on a choice you made about something different.
